Silver On The Tree is a suspenseful, indulgent book written by Susan Cooper. Written in the early 1900, it was one of the first of its kind. Although she almost went to jail for being so bold, to this day she declares that she is proud of every last word she wrote in this book.
Will Dariko, struggles to keep his life in order as he has just found out that his brother is dead. On top of trying to deal with his depression and a messy divorce, Will begins to have strange nightmares. Will finds a whole new world in his dreams, a world of demons and ghosts, it’s a place caught between life and death. In this strange land, Will finds his dead brother, Jacob, who is slowly turning into a demon of the underworld. Although Jacob tells Will to go back to his world, Will refuses to leave his brother. Will feels that if he visits the dreamland often he might be able to save his brother.
Being awake begins to feel dull and boring to Will as dreaming is all that he really cares about. This begins to be a problem for his wife, Julia, who finds that Will does not seem to have any interest in what happens to their relationship or their son, Tony. As Will is in his daze Julia takes advantage and takes full custody over Tony. Will hardly seems to notice.
Will soon finds that if he wants to save his brother he must choose between the dreamland and his own. Believing nothing lies for him in the real world, he chooses a world of demons, a world that he knows nothing about. As he enters the dreamworld forever, he feels something is wrong. . .
