Pathfinder is a fascinating tale of a young boy’s mysterious powers. Magic and physics are beautifully intertwined in this masterpiece. Packed full of electrifying moments, Orson Card’s Pathfinder is sure to not disappoint.
Pathfinder is about a fourteen year old boy who finds out that he is one of the four kids in the world that have supernatural powers. The boy’s name is Rigg, and his particular power is that he can change the past, but he is powerless to change the future. Rigg’s father was killed under mysterious circumstances when Rigg was only two. Rigg’s mother tells him that he must follow the path that his father took when he was Rigg’s age. Rigg must set out to find his path before it is too late. Someone, something, is tracking him down.
Rigg soon meets the other three who also have supernatural powers named Thea, Forrest and Atlas. At first, the four have difficulties and do not seem to get along together so well. After a couple of near death events the group experience together, this problem is solved. The four decide that they must cooperate and find a way to defeat the mysterious villain with their super powers combined.
Soon, Thea, Forrest, Atlas and Rigg must make a crucial decision. Unbeknownst to the four, the mysterious villain who has been tracking them down is secretly influencing their thoughts. Will the four friends make the right decision? Or will they scumm to the power of the villain?
Orson Scott Card’s Pathfinder is truly a masterpiece. This book will keep readers on the edge of their seats flipping page after page until the very end. A perfect combination of a magical and very real world, Orson Card perfectly meshes magic and modern together. This book is for anyone twelve and up.
