Finding Buck McHenry is an adventurous and inspiring book by the author Alfred Slote. This amazing book has been a bestseller around the country and continues to be a bestseller because of the exciting inspirational adventure to try and find a baseball coach.
Finding Buck McHenry is about three young baseball players named Bob, Courtney and Jason who are trying to find a coach to teach them all about baseball so they can become great players. They explore the country trying to find someone, and they come across a guy named Buck McHenry.
When the kids start off on their adventure they travel east from California. They meet up with lots of baseball players along the way that want to join them in becoming baseball stars. The players have a fun time getting there as they meet lots of friendly coaches that teach them tips about baseball, like how to hit good shots or how to run really fast, but they hadn’t found a person that they thought could really turn them into stars.
When the kids come to Iowa, they find a giant baseball museum and they find a famous baseball player in there. His name was Buck McHenry. Buck McHenry told the kids everything they needed to know about baseball. They develop a team and enter many tournaments across the US. They all wish to be baseball stars and hope that their dream will come true.
