This captivating and very entertaining book has been an excellent page turner since its release. It hit the New York Times bestsellers list the same year it debuted and in 2010. Columbia Pictures is currently working on the movie which is predicted to come out in summer of 2013.
Count Down is about a fifteen year old boy named JJ Green. He was 6’2, had brown hair, was good looking, and very popular. He was a sophomore at Fairborn High in Ohio. He played on the football team and was their star quarterback. His father was a collector of old records. One day, his father finds a unique record while he was looking through a store and decides to buy it. When he shows JJ the record, JJ was surprised because it shows all of his friends’ names in his class. Curious, he turns the record to the hottest girl in his class and plays it.
He felt a rush as if all the energy inside him was exploding out! Then, before he knew it, he appeared in a room. The room was familiar but he just didn't know where it was. He looked around, he saw lots of girl’s clothes, make up, and magazines. Then he realized, “I’m in Hannah’s room! He had been here before, many times, but she wasn't there. Then he went over to the mirror. He gasped! He had turned into Hannah! At first he thought it was a dream and closed his eyes, but when he opened them again nothing at changed. As he frantically tried to calm himself down he remembered something. “If I go back to my house, I can play my name and I’ll turn back! I'll I have to do is get to my house.” As he opened the window he heard, “Hannah come down, it’s dinner time.”
Deborah Wiles does a great job of writing or Count Down. It really makes the reader feel like they’re part of it. Although the dialogue is kind of difficult to get sometimes it is a very good book.
