The Giraffe the Pelly and Me is a book about friendship and murder by a famous children's writer named Roald Dahl. This book is well appreciated by the age range of 5 to 20. It was illustrated and written in 1950.
The Giraffe the Pelly and Me is about the relationship of a boy and a giraffe. They together experience joy and tragedy throughout their friendship. They will reveal secrets that may slowly tear their friendship apart.
One day, the Giraffe decides to go on a walk with the boy and tell him some information that will change everything the boy ever thought about the giraffe. The giraffe was hesitant, for life would be much different knowing the secret he was going to tell to the boy. But today was the day for it to be told to the boy. The giraffe went to the dock near the ocean with all the pelicans. He then sat beside the boy, took a breath, and said “We can no longer be friends.”
“What?” says the boy. He had been friends with the giraffe since he was just a baby, so these words were shocking to him. The giraffe took the boy, and threw him into the pelican’s mouth. The boy then pops out his head, taking a last glance at his once loved giraffe friend, before the pelican’s mouth slowly starts to close.
The Giraffe the Pelly and Me leaves the reader with a bit of confusion and wonder of what is happening at the time. It leaves you wondering, what's going to happen next in this long journey. For they will have friendship and also misery.
3 out of 5 stars.
