Leaves of Grass is an amazing story written by Walt Whitman that is filled with adventure, excitement and creativity. Leaves of Grass is most suitable for teenagers. This book has a twist that will leave the reader clamoring for a sequel.
Leaves of Grass is a book about Lily, a nymph, that runs away from her Kingdom. Lily was born in royalty and she never was allowed to do anything except for sitting in the palace and sipping tea. Lily also didn't have any friends. The book starts when, one day, Lily hides in a hollow in the base of a tree when the guards go searching for their missing princess in the outskirts of the kingdom.
There Lily finds a group of nymphs in the hollow, but there is something different about them; they have wings! Lily quicklys realizes two things; one that the nymphs weren't nymphs they were fairies! Two: the fairies are living in poverty. Their wings are tattered and ripped. The queen, Lily’s mother like all nymphs, despised the fairies and drove them out of her kingdom. Lily went to sleep feeling astonished that night. Lily never told the fairies who she was, but still felt like a traitor. One day, a guard of a distant kingdom spotted Lily and secretly followed her to the fairies. The young guard recognized the fairies as spies of his village and tells Lily when he stays for the night. Lily is wonders who were the fairies?
The young guard introduced himself as Alexander, The foreign king’s knight. Alexander kindly lets Lily and the fairies stay at the inn in town. Unlike Lily’s kingdom, in this kingdom there are only fairies. Lily only goes out in the night to hide herself from the fairies. One day Alexander brings bad news; Lily's mom has finally declared war on the fairies. Lily’s mother thinks the fairies have kidnapped Lily! Lily can only wonder what shes going to do to save her friends.
Walt Whitman’s book, Leaves of Grass has a mind bending twist to a regular story of fairies, and fills the reader with emotion and surprise. Leaves of Grass is a book anybody would like to read.
