Chaim Potok, the author of Davita’s Harp, has written a new masterpiece: The Book of Lights. It is an action/adventure book that was written in 1978. Since then, it has filled readers’ minds with action and will continue to do so for generations to come.
The Book of Lights takes place in the year 2045. A man named Steve recently retired from the military and is trying to find a new job. He soon finds his place in a secret branch of the government that is currently researching ways to time travel. Steve’s boss, Mike, asks Steve to test the time machine the scientists have created.
Steve agrees, and goes back 442 years into Japan’s early Edo period in 1603. Steve discovers that he appeared in the ancient city of Edo (Tokyo) inside the Chiyoda Castle, where Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa himself commands the country’s military. With Steve’s wits, he quickly became a friend with Ieyasu. All was well until Mike secretly started to form his own force against Ieyasu with modern weapons. Steve then said to the shogun, “A force is planning to overpower you with weapons of the future.”
Ieyasu knew what to do, he was going to use his family’s treasure: The Book of Lights. Ieyasu’s forces now went confidently to the war. The war commenced and Ieyasu opened the book to reveal the most powerful weapon one could ever imagine...
