Sword Sworn is a suspenseful novel of action and survival, written by the best selling author Jennifer Roberson. A movie is recently being made of it which may come out in 2013. Sword Sworn teaches lessons of wilderness and the harsh terrain that the characters face on their journey.
Sword Sworn starts with Sarah, a 30 year old woman who is living in a wealthy village in the outskirts of a vast desert. One day her village gets raided by the vile thieves known as “Raidro Hunters.” Sarah is forced to abandon the home she grew up in as a child.
Sarah rides away on her camel out into the vast desert. After about 5 days in the desert Sarah’s camel dies of a wound that the Raidro gave it. Sarah, in search of food, stumbles upon an oasis in which she stops to rest. A Raidro bandit that also has been taking a rest in the area, just noticed Sarah and came over to greet her. His name was Adam and he had been banished from the Raidro tribe after acts of mutiny.
At first, Sarah is terrified but the man then talks about how he was banished and that he wouldn't harm her. Then he goes on about another village on the other side of the desert that he’s been traveling to. Sarah quickly notices his many swords and tools. She wants to join him and have better chance of survival but it feels wrong to her. Adam can sense these conflicted emotions and tells her a story of his sword and how it represents the agreement between two people. He stated that if they both held it by its handle and made an agreement it would be sealed until the sword has been broken. in that moment Sarah and Adam had a pact forever...
