The Wizard Test
Hilari Bell
Bell, Hilari. The Wizard Test. Harpercollins Publishers. New York. 2005.
The Wizard Test is a magical and mysterious book. The author, Hilari Bell, has been writing teenage books for a short time and has done a fantastic job so far. It was hard for her to make a book for the new generation because she mainly writes adult books. This book will definitely amaze with its thrilling literature.
The Wizard Test is about a boy named Jake who is going to the land of wizards. Jake is one of the newest wizards going to the Castle of Felignon to take the wizard test. Jake has done a lot of tough tasks in the past but the test to become a wizard will be the hardest thing by far that Jake has ever had to do.
Jake takes a deep breath he faces the entrance of the door to the Castle of Felignon. His body, full of excitement and fear at the same time. He reaches his arm out to grab the handle. Slowly he pulls open the door waiting to see what's on the other side. As he opens the door he hears the cheers of all the wizards around the world. He steps into the middle of the ring as the commentators start doing their job.
Jake’s first test is on his performance and aim. Jake is filled with fear and emotion as this will determine his future. Scared out of his mind, Jake steps up to the target as he pulls his bow. He lets go of the string and instantly hears the celebration from the crowd. The arrow hit directly on the bullseye. Jake is filled with joy but at the same time is focused on the next test. The monster taming test!
Hilari Bell did a great job at leaving the reader wanting more. She has mastered the skill of making the reader feel the emotions the boy was feeling before he enter the castle of felignon. The Wizard Test has a lot of big words making it a great book to improve your vocabulary.
