Piper Jonson was an average girl in a normal school. She played sports, had good grades, and was shy. She had a best friend named Josie. Josie was her only good friend. They never did anything that would be bad for their school. They were both the best in their class at sports and had the best grades. The only thing that they lost in was being social. If there was a party, they would meet up at Piper’s house and have a sleepover together and not go to the party. Today, there was a class field trip. Before they all went onto the buses, the teachers split the class into groups. She ended up not sitting with Josie. Instead she had to sit next to the most popular girl in the class, Katie. She was the perfect height and was the best looking, or so Piper thought. She wasn’t always nice. Katie always yelled at Piper when she did something wrong in sports, or in a project even though Piper is better then her at almost anything.
On the field trip, Piper was looking outside and realized that the sky was turning blue and yellow. It started spinning like a tornado was forming but at the same time, it looked fake. Piper wondered if she had fallen asleep and was now dreaming this. The spinning sky was coming closer to the ground. Piper turned around to tell the teachers but everyone was gone. Even Josie. She went to the front to see who was driving the bus. It was a man in a dark brown cloak. Scared, she backed away into her seat. Soon, she fell asleep. She awoke to the sound of an engine. She was still in the bus. She thought to herself, “Can I fall asleep inside a dream and wake up in the dream?” She slowly and quietly stood up and looked around. She walked to the drivers seat with confidence to ask the man who he was and what happened to her friends. She went up and asked the man. He replied quickly with a grunting type of noise. Then he stood up and spoke some words and she blacked out. She woke feeling like she was falling, fast.
Piper didn’t want to open her eyes after what had been happening. She finally opens them to see water. She hit the water with force. She got to the top of the water to find that she was surrounded by men in cloaks. They seemed to have a master. He was wearing a green cloak and was holding something. She looked closer and saw it was a cage full of the people that were in the school bus. Right then she knew what her mission was. She needed to free her friends and not die. She didn’t want to lose her only friend, Josie. Piper got out of the water and found a metal pole. It was closest thing to a weapon, so she picked it up and rushed towards the men.
Savvy is a very exciting book and makes your blood rush when read. It makes you image you were in the story while reading it. You can never get the dialogue out of your mind after reading it. The book is clever but yet simple, which makes it fun to read.
5 out of 5 stars.
