Congratulations, Newlyweds!

Congratulations to our own Amanda Leonard, NICC Manchester Center and Oelwein RAMS Center Supervisor! Amanda and Trevor Hoisington were married on Oct. 3 at Windmill Hill, a barn venue located outside of Manchester. Amanda, who grew up in Strawberry Point, and Trevor, from Colesburg, enjoyed a ceremony and reception with 150 of their close family members and friends. Although COVID-19 impacted the number of guests who were able to attend, everything went well and it was a beautiful day.

BIG FISH | be amazed.

Shannon Betzer

Associate Director of Student Life | Calmar Campus

If you could start all over again, what would be your career choice?

A fiction novelist. When I was younger, I used to write so many stories and post them on online platforms. There was something so fun about creating a different world and controlling the hero of the story. That or an archaeologist, because I love history, traveling and making discoveries.

Name one country or region in the world you have never visited that you someday want to visit, serve or spend a vacation?

I am a world traveler so I have a long list! I would have to go with Egypt to explore all the ancient archaeological sites! Ever since I was really little (and obsessed with The Mummy movies), I have been fascinated by the ancient Egyptian culture, the advanced technology they possessed and great architecture they built in honor of their kings and gods. If it were even possible, I would love to join a team of archaeologists and assist in one of their projects as well. What a thrill it would be to be on the cusp of a historical discovery.

In one sentence, how would you explain the internet?

The wonderful and chaotic technological resource with the power of infinite possibilities for good and bad!

If you could create a holiday, what would be called and how would we celebrate it?

Spread Kindness Day, a day when everyone was required to provide an act of kindness for someone else without the expectation of something in return. The main point of the day would be to focus on the little things that leave a big impact, and how one small act can make a significant impact on a person's life.

If you had one million dollars to build anything you wanted, what would you build and why?

I would buy a piece of land in the country surrounded by woods and build a comfortable cabin house with lots of windows to look at the trees.
