WEEKLY FEATURE | good to know.

Join the 2020 Great Give Day Celebration!

Thursday, May 14, is Great Give Day! That is a 24-hour giving blitz established by the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque that allows us to raise money to benefit our students. Our goal is to raise $5,000.

As you know, our students are being deeply impacted by COVID19. Many have lost their jobs, income and sense of security. That makes affording tuition more difficult. We worry some students will stop-out of classes due to their inability to pay tuition. We are asking you to help restore that sense of security and be our student’s silver lining.

This year, all donors who make an online gift on Great Give Day have a chance to receive a “Silver Ticket.”

Here’s how it works:

Today, when you make a donation to NICC, no matter the dollar amount, your name will be entered into a “silver lining” bucket.

Each time we raise $1,000 throughout the day, we will draw a name. The donor whose name is drawn will receive a “Silver Ticket.” You can watch the drawings on Facebook LIVE throughout the day. We will draw a new name each time we reach $1,000.

The donor whose name is drawn can give it to anyone who they believe could benefit from the “Silver Ticket” who is not a relative. If the donor whose name is pulled does not have a student in mind, members of the Northeast Iowa Community College Advancement team can help in selecting a deserving student.

A student can use the money to help cover the cost of tuition, fees, books and supplies.

You can begin to schedule gifts beginning on May 4 at this webpage or anytime until 11:59 p.m. on May 14.

You can follow updates on the fundraising process throughout the day on the College’s social media platforms. You can also watch a scroll of names of everyone who has donated as the dollars come in on at www.nicc.edu.

We thank you so very much for supporting our students. Please be their “silver” lining.

With much gratitude,

The Advancement Team: Wendy Knight, Katie Wiedemann, Sara Hageman, Darla Till and Kelli Holthaus

What are your thoughts on COVID-19 and the role of Respiratory Therapists?

During these trying times with COVID-19, the world is realizing what assets hospital staff are. Respiratory therapy is one of the best professions out there. We are on the front-lines everyday, even when COVID-19 isn't happening. We are the ones who placed a patient on a ventilator, bagged them, gave patients a life-saving breathing treatment and gave them their breath back. We are always there to help in anyone's time of need. We are Respiratory Therapists!
