WEEKLY FEATURE | good to know.

NECAS Delivers Training to Grateful Fire Crew in Michigan

National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS) Director Dan Neenan spent part of this week with the Hadley Township Fire Department in Hadley, Mich., training local firefighters in grain bin rescue. As the only hands-on training facility of its kind in the U.S, NECAS provides year-round safety and farm accident prevention training for farmers, agribusinesses, firefighters and EMS personnel. The grain bin rescue training, one of many safety programs available through the safety center, has saved the lives of 19 individuals since 2012.

Kurt Nass, Hadley Township Fire Department fire chief, praised NECAS for its grain bin rescue training: “NECAS does an exceptional job, and Dan Neenan’s training is very informative, not just on the do's and don'ts, but the big picture as well. The center’s entire training program is well worth it and I recommended to anyone in the industry.”

Thank you to Dan and the entire NECAS team for the life-saving training you provide for Iowa and throughout North America!

Medical Assistant Program Earns Continued Accreditation!

The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) has awarded continuing accreditation to the Medical Assistant diploma program at Northeast Iowa Community College's Peosta campus, including the approved program at the Calmar campus.

The Medical Assisting Education Review Board's (MAERB) and the CAAHEP Board of Directors' recent peer review recognized the program's substantial compliance with the nationally established accreditation standards. The next comprehensive evaluation of the program, including an on-site review, is scheduled to occur no later than fall 2023.
