Zoom Custom Backgrounds for You!

Yes, many of us are working from home these past few months. But why settle for a boring backdrop in Zoom … a blank wall or just regular northeast Iowa scenery? Show your Northeast Iowa Community College colors proud! Choose a slide with a picturesque shot of the Student Center at Calmar, a nighttime photo of Peosta’s Industrial Technologies Building or NICC colors and our logo. Marketing has saved a group of Zoom Custom Backgrounds, along with directions to upload in the location shown below. Enjoy!

JUST DESSERTS | let's celebrate.

Tara Miller, Business and Community Solutions, Ties the Knot!

Tara Miller, Business and Community Solutions Marketing/Sales Assistant, married Austin Cooley last weekend! Although COVID-19 prompted the couple to postpone their wedding from June 20 to Sept. 6, Tara and Austin decided they didn't want to wait until September. The intimate ceremony was held in her Dad's backyard in East Dubuque, Ill., overlooking the Mississippi.

After the ceremony, immediate family and close friends enjoyed a cookout with brats and burgers. It wasn't the wedding day the couple had imagined, but it was a perfect day (even with a quick storm during the outdoor ceremony). Tara and Austin hope that the situation improves in September to hold a reception celebration with friends and family.

Congratulations and Welcome to the Family!

April and Jeremy Vaassen are the proud parents of a new daughter, Via Jane! Via was born on Friday, June 19, at 12:38 p.m., eight lbs. and 20 inches. She is getting to know her older sister, Nora. The Vaassens live in Kieler, Wis. April is a Business and Community Solutions Operations Program Manager at the Town Clock Business Center in Dubuque.

Self-Care Tips and Inspiration

by Flannery Cerbin-Bohach, Wellness and Life Stage Program Manager

Recipe of the Week:

Kale is a powerhouse green and one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the plant. We made our first massaged kale salad of the season recently. Kale salads are versatile; you can top with your favorite dressing or toss in other toppings like seeds, fruit, nuts, cheese and/or other veggies.

Home Workout of the Week:

20-minute Challenge: Warm-up. Lunges. Toe taps. Mobility. Planks. This workout has it all!

Remember, there are a whole bunch of other exercises/home fitness videos in the Wellness Library.
