It's All in a Day's Work for Carrie Klein!

Carrie Klein received two of nation’s top scholarships recognizing outstanding academic achievement among college students this semester. She was one of 20 students in the US to be named to the All-USA Academic Team and was also named a 2019 New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar, the only college student recipient in the State of Iowa. Carrie earned the honors for her academic accomplishments, leadership activities and service to the community.

Carrie, her mother and Dr. Wee attended the American Association of Community Colleges national conference in Orlando on April 15 where Carrie accepted her honors.

Welcome to the World, Camden Konzen!

Ashley Konzen, Design Coordinator at Peosta, visited the Institutional Effectiveness office this week to introduce her new baby boy, Camden Konzen, to her colleagues.

Camden was born on Saturday, March 30, at Mercy Medical Center. Congratulations to Ashley, husband Mike Konzen and the entire Konzen family!

Graphic Design Students Win ICCADI Competition Honors!

Two Graphic Design students, Megan Lenane and Willie Tigges, received awards for their work in the Iowa Community College Advertising + Design Invitational (ICCADI) competition this spring.

Megan Lenane’s Postage Stamp Series, “Inspirational Women,” received a Citation of Merit.

Willie Tigges' PSA Poster Campaign, "It’s Your Choice,” also received a Citation of Merit.

Lenane is a first-year student from New Vienna. Tigges is a second-year student from Dubuque.

The two students' ICCADI entries (pictured at right) also received American Advertising Awards from the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Student American Advertising Awards Competition in Dubuque in February.

Students from seven Iowa community colleges submitted 134 total entries into the ICCADI this year.

The ICCADI design competition recognizes and celebrates original design created by students enrolled in the Graphic Design programs at Iowa's community colleges. It rewards individuals whose projects demonstrate engaging, innovative, effective and thoughtful design solutions in six categories: Publication, Identity, Packaging, Web + Interactive, Illustration and Poster.

Northeast Iowa Community College Board of Trustees

In celebration of Board of Trustees Appreciation Month this May, Northeast Iowa Community College is honoring the Trustees for their dedicated service to the College, business and industry partners, school districts and students.

The nine members of the Board of Trustees are voluntarily elected by the public for four-year terms. The Board of Trustees sets policy for the College and hires and evaluates the president. The local control of the board ensures that NICC serves the needs of our communities.

Board of Trustees members and the northeast Iowa school districts they represent are:

Kenneth Reimer, D.V.M., board president. Dr. Reimer, of Elkader, represents the school districts MFL MarMac, Central Elkader, Clayton Ridge, Edgewood-Colesburg and Maquoketa Valley

Jim Anderson, J.D., board vice president. Anderson, of Decorah, represents the school districts Howard Winneshiek, North Winneshiek and Decorah

Larry Blatz, of Dubuque, represents Dubuque Community Schools

Gene Fuelling, of Oelwein, serves the Oelwein, Starmont and West Delaware school districts

Kathy Gunderson, of Postville, represents the Turkey Valley, South Winneshiek, Postville, Allamakee and Eastern Allamakee school districts

Sue Runyon, of Fayette, serves the Riceville, New Hampton, North Fayette Valley and West Central school districts and the area within the former Fredericksburg school district boundaries

David Schueller, of Peosta, serves the districts of Western Dubuque, Centralia Center and Jefferson Peru Precincts in Dubuque

Bob Shafer, of Dubuque, represents Dubuque Community Schools

Daniel White, of Dubuque, serves Dubuque Community Schools
