Refocusing with the Wellness Challenge 2020!

I hope you’ll take a moment or two to consider joining the upcoming Wellness Challenge in January!

Wellness Challenge 2020 vision looks a little different than previous Challenges. This will carry you through the winter months with a focus on ... refocusing. The Challenge is about reconnecting with what makes you feel more alive and complete. Your exercise habits. Your eating. Your relationships. Your attitude. Your spending habits. This is about you.

It will run from Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, to Sunday, March 8, 2020. You can sign up with a team, register as an individual to be placed on a team or complete this solo.

The focus of this Challenge isn’t to do anything earth shattering; it’s about nurturing something within you that needs more attention. Ask yourself these questions to start formulating your one S.M.A.R.T goal for this Challenge:

Specific – What exactly do I want to do?

Measurable – How much/many do I want to do?

Attainable – How likely am I to accomplish this goal?

Relevant – Does this goal really matter to me?

Time-bound – What is the time frame for me to accomplish this goal?

More details are here!

Be well,

Flannery

BIG FISH | be amazed.

Alex Monaghan

Business and Community Solutions Program Developer | Town Clock Business Center

What gets you excited about the mission of Northeast Iowa Community College?

It excites me to help individuals and companies seek a successful path for their educational and business needs and be able to connect companies to community resources to build on to their successes.

Which of the following aspects of your upbringing most contributed in shaping the person you came to be and why/how?

Growing up on my family's farm really shaped who I am today because it taught me hardwork, dedication and passion. As kids, my siblings and I sold home grown sweet corn, raised and showed beef calves at the county fair, and spent much of our time outdoors.

What is one of your biggest accomplishments/most memorable events?

The Wall Street Journal picked up one of Elevate's press releases about a local Parent's and Student's Information Night and called to interview the team about the event. It was fun to talk with the journalist from The Wall Street Journal! :)

What experience most prepared you for your current role at the College?

Elevate Advanced Manufacturing, a statewide marketing campaign to educate advanced manufacturing career pathways, prepared me the most to become the Program Developer for the trades at Northeast Iowa Community College. During my time with Elevate Advanced Manufacturing, I traveled through Iowa to partner and collaborate with Iowa Association of Business and Industry, Iowa Economic Develpment, K-12 education systems, Iowa community colleges, Iowa Workforce Development, manufacturing companies, and many other organizations and associations to promote careers in advanced manufacturing. We worked together to fill the skills gap in Iowa. I advertised and marketed the manufacturing industry and advanced manufacturing careers via social media, website, in presentations, and at public events and activities.

What was your favorite cartoon/comic/book growing up?

Junie B. Jones books!
