RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES
Mrs. Meg Irwin
Hello, OC Taylor families!
I am thrilled to be able to incite a love of reading in our students and help them to become confident readers. It's exciting to cultivate a culture of reading, research, and exploration on campus with students, parents, and staff. The learning commons will be a space for students to read, imagine, plan, and create. Students will begin coming to the library for weekly check out with their class the week of August 30th. We will be able to do Makerspace this year, too!
Overdrive/Sora (e-books)
Overdrive is GCISD's e-book and audiobook library. Students can use the classic Overdrive view or the student friendly app called Sora to borrow and read e-books. Instructions
You can also use your public library card to access their e-book collections.
Epic Books (e-books)
Epic is another e-book resource that has been available free during the school day unless families purchase a subscription.
Lightbox collections contain videos, e-books, and more on a topic all on one page.
Destiny Discover
This app is available in the Learning Commons folder in ClassLink.
It is primarily used to search the print collection, but also contains a small digital collection, however the Follett company has given us access to their digital collections including Lightbox through June 30, 2020.
LIGHTBOX: Follett Destiny has given our students free access (through June) to many great resources.

Exploration - Just for Fun!
Thanks to our PTA, our students in K-4 have the Green Screen by DoInk app.
It's easy to set up a green screen area with a 99 cent plastic table cover.
