Math Telescoping Exams - March 21st ONLINe Registration goes live for June Exam.

June 13th ONLINE Registration goes live for July Exam

Students in grades K - 5th have an opportunity to take an End of Course math assessment in order to skip a grade of math. The testing will be in the summer (registration starts March 21st), and the results will apply to the 2022-23 school year.

In order for your child to telescope in math, a student must take a grade level end of course exam and score 90% or higher. For example, a first grader would take an end of course 2nd grade exam. If that child scored 90% or higher on it, then the next year as a 2nd Grader, that student would take 3rd Grade math. If you are wondering if this could be a good fit for your child, reach out to your child's math teacher to discuss this opportunity. If you choose to move forward with testing, use the links below:

Parents will find information about the requirements to qualify for Math Telescoping and instructions about the Online Registration Process and the required Payment Online Process. View the TEKS on the TEA website, and download Study Guides for the exams purchased from UTHS-Austin.

Exam Fee(s)

There is a fee of $30.00 for each “PAPER” (required for grades 1 & 2, optional for grades 3-7) Math Telescoping exam and $40.00 for each “Online Remote Proctorio” exam (grades 3-7 only) ordered from UTHS-Austin. ALL payments are to be made online at the end of the registration form. A link for the online payment will be provided.

Exams for 1st and 2nd grade must be given orally. These Paper exams will be administered at the GCISD location. Proctors will read the questions and students will mark their answers in the test booklet. Proctors will transcribe their answers to a computer graded answer sheet for scoring by the UTHS-Austin Testing Center.

I am so fortunate to call O.C. Taylor my home, and like our mascot, the Tiger, we ARE creative, resourceful, and resilient. The definition of RESILIENCY is “the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.” Whether it be digital or in person, my goal is to provide opportunities that develop a student’s capacity to trouble- shoot, problem-solve, reflect, be creative, and look at situations from multiple perspectives. My own children are GCISD graduates and have benefited greatly from the rigor of advanced academics, leadership opportunities, and programs that have met their needs socially/emotionally. Likewise, I am committed to connecting students and families with programs and services that are unique to GCISD. In a nutshell, my WHY of teaching is … “It’s all about the kids!”
