Opposites

Students will learn the concept of "opposites" as we enjoy many holiday books. We will review vocabulary words from this unit of study as we read through multiple books this week with a focus on various winter holidays from around the world. Students will apply their knowledge of "characters", "setting", "problem", and "solution" to the understanding of texts.

Literacy

This week we will focus on:

  • fiction vs. nonfiction

  • Letter Sounds /t/ Tt, /p/ Pp, /z/ Zz

  • Letter Writing-"N"

  • opposites

Math

This week we will focus on:

  • attributes

  • compare & contrast

  • using a Venn Diagram in solving math problems

Social/Emotional

This week we will focus on:

  • Identifying the problem

  • Thinking of ways to solve our problems

  • Kindness towards others



Holiday Classroom Party

Please check your email from information from Mrs. Amy Thompson regarding the class Holiday Party.

Students need to bring a wrapped, non-gender specific puzzle for the class gift exchange.

When: December 17th

What: Students will decorate cookies and exchange a wrapped puzzle gift.

Polar Express Day is coming!

When: Thursday, December 16th

What: Students are invited to wear their pajamas, bring a blanket, and watch The Polar Express movie. We will serve our students popcorn and hot chocolate during the movie.

Please remember ...

Your child needs the following items sent in their backpack, every day:

*a change of weather appropriate clothes in a ziploc bag

*a water bottle that they can manage without spilling

*2-3 healthy snack items (no items that require utensils, please)

*Daily Folder, signed each night

Daily Folders

Each school day, your child brings home their Daily Folder. Please make sure you are signing the GREAT Chart nightly and returning it to school on the following day. Your support and communication is very much appreciated. Thank you!

Dismissal Reminder:

If you find your child must go home a different way than planned, please notify the office by a phone call by at least 2:00 p.m. Teachers and our front office staff do not always have access to email or are busy teaching or helping others. A phone call is required. Sometimes we have only one person in the front office, so we want to provide ample time to be able to meet your needs.
