September 20-24, 2021

Math

This week in math, we will continue our learning of Place Value with whole numbers and decimals. We will continue working with the thousandths and billions place and different forms of numbers. This week our focus is comparing and ordering numbers. Students will be able to write numbers in order from greatest to least/least to greatest with numbers that go up to the billions place and decimals that go to the thousandths place.

Our first auction with be October 29th! This was one of the main reasons for earning money in 5th grade. So many students are already so excited for this day! We will take class time to learn how to write a check, deposit slips and how to keep a financial record.

Students will get the opportunity to bid on items that have been donated by their peers and some special items I've purchased myself. If you have old toys, games, or books that you would like to donate, please send those items in with your child and I will pay them an equivalent amount of Eppersonain bucks for their donation. The bankers will help me collect money from the winning bids and help with checks and deposit slips.

Science & Social Studies

This week in Science, we will be reviewing all covered content so far on Tuesday and Wednesday. This includes properties of matter as well as mixtures/solutions. This covers units 1-3.

WE HAVE OUR FIRST DISTRICT SCIENCE TEKS CHECK THIS THURSDAY!

Any students scoring below a 70 will complete test corrections with Mrs. Fields in order to clear up any misconceptions before moving forward.

This week in Social Studies, now that we have studied all the state clusters, we will study all 50 this week to prepare for a fun escape room challenge at the end of the week! Remember, students should know state location, capital, and state abbreviation.

We are also working on writing good endings to our writing.
