Math

This week in math, we will continue with Area, Perimeter, and Volume formulas. The students will understand that the units that we use to find volume are called cubic units that all have a length, width, and height of 1. We will focus on problem solving with Area, Perimeter, and Volume. By the end of the week, we will begin learning how to convert units of measure in customary and metric. We will utilize our STAAR reference sheet to determine how to convert units of measure.

For homework this week, students will use the starred concepts in IXL and get a score of 80% on at least 3 concepts.

Science & Social Studies

This week in Science, we are continuing our exploration of the properties of light! Students are learning that light must travel in straight lines and can be both reflected and refracted through the use of lasers, mirrors, and prisms. We will move into our final unit around mid-week when we begin designing experiments with forces.

Daily STEMScopes assignments continue this week.

In Social Studies this week, we are continuing our study of the turn of the century and are well on our way into the 1900s. This week we explore World War 1, the Roaring 20s, the Crash and Great Depression, and the early part of FDR and the New Deal. We are covering events leading up to WW2.

This is a 4 week unit!
