Your child will need their backpack and chromebook every day this week. Please clean out their backpack each night, as we will be bringing things home in stages this week. Thank you for partnering with us this this. It was a pleasure to watch your children grow academically and socially this year. We hope you have a wonderful summer! Don't forget to read and work on your math facts over the summer with the programs that we have on our chrome books. :)

Board Games/Yearbooks

Please have your child bring a board game on Wednesday. We will play them on Wednesday and Thursday with our friends. We also have yearbooks to sign next week. If your child doesn not have a yearbook, we will have an autograph book for them.

So proud of our Mackenzie!

Mackenzie entered the 2022 Rabies Awareness and Prevention Poster Contest. She won 2nd place in the 3rd-5th grade age bracket for the entire state of Texas! Way to represent OC Taylor, Mackenzie! We are so proud of you and your artistic talent! Look at those art supplies that she won! We know you will use them in future contests. Congratulations! :)

Science:

In science we are starting our Space Unit.

Main Ideas to know:

  • The Sun is the major source of energy for Earth. The winds, ocean currents and growth of plants are affected by the Sun’s energy. Seasons result from varying amounts of the Sun’s energy hitting Earth’s surface.

  • Each of the planets in our solar system orbits the Sun and maintains its place in relationship to the Sun and each other.

  • The Earth, Moon and Sun interact in ways that affect our planet in fundamental ways.

  • A model can be used to represent the Moon orbiting the Earth and the Earth orbiting the Sun.

Writing: We are in our Fairy Tale Unit.

Main Focuses:

  • We will be focusing on creating strong stories.

  • We will be careful when editing our papers and following a checklist.

  • We will also be thinking of the reader in mind. What gets them excited to read our writing? What should we add to make things flow easily?

  • We are making SO much progress on our fractured fairy tales! Be sure to ask your child what they are writing about.
