Math

This week in math, we will continue working on their Geometry City Project which is due Friday 4/29. We will also begin STAAR boot camp and begin reviewing concepts taught throughout the years starting with Decimal operations. I'll also be teaching test taking strategies, tips, and tricks.

Your child will receive another page of homework to complete this week. We will grade it in class together on Friday!

Science & Social Studies

This week in Science, we are launching our fun content review stations! We cover so much material over the course of the year, so it's time to start refreshing stuff we learned early on. These are engaging and hands-on ways to review the material as we prepare to wrap up our year!

In Social Studies this week, we are continuing our study of the 20th century. We kick things off with the Civil Rights Movement and leaders, then into the Vietnam War, and wrap up with the fall of the "Iron Curtain"

Reading/ Writing

Last week students read a whole class novel called Number the Stars. Students answered comprehension questions as we listened and discussed this book. This week students will get to choose an end of book project that goes with this story that they will complete in class and present on Thursday.

Students received new spelling words last week. Their activities will be due this Thursday the 28th. Their spelling test will also be this Thursday the 28th. This will be their LAST set of spelling words that they will receive this year!!

Book Talk #4 is due this Friday, April 29th. This will be our final book talk of the year. This will be a "bag" book talk, which means that students will bring in 5 different items in a paper bag that are meaningful in their story. As they do the book talk, the students will pull out the items and share/ explain them.
