Financial Literacy : Week 2
Our 3rd grade Tigers just completed their first week of earning Lee Bucks in Math. This week they will begin having the options to spend their money or save their money depending on their budget. They will continue to earn points throughout the week on Class Dojo. On Friday I will pay them "Lee Bucks" with the amount of points they have accumulated over the week. During Week 2 and beyond, they will have expenses to pay as well. Here are ways they can earn money this week.
Have 5 Green Lights on Reflex by Friday
Have a charged Chromebook every day
Complete an Education Galaxy Goal
Finish a Mission on Frax each day
Have a Parent Sign Their Great TIger Folder each day

They can lose points for not having or doing the 10 above items, as well.
Some of the expenses they will have this week:
Rent their desk (daily or weekly)

Next week, students receive their "just right" spelling list of words with vowel teams including words that follow the "i before e, except after c" rule. We will practice spelling words in class but practicing at home is encouraged as well.

about our Math Class Dojo and Financial Literacy
what goal they are currently working towards mastering.
This week we have been working on the following:
We practiced both division and multiplication math facts.
We're launched our financial literacy by using Class Dojo and Lee Bucks!
We learned how to find the area of rectangles on graph paper and by multiplying the length x the width.
Next, week's focus will be:
We will continue to work on our fact fluency with Reflex, and Splash Learn.
We'll continue to build our understanding of fractions with the Frax app and complete 1 mission a day.
We will learn how to find the area of irregular shapes.
We will learn how to find the perimeter of shapes.
This week's homework will be due on Friday.
Science:
In science we are starting our Earth's Force's Unit.
Our Main Points to learn from this Unit:
Large forces/rapid changes can cause the Earth’s surface/landforms to change suddenly.
Volcanic eruptions and earthquakes can cause rapid changes on Earth’s surface such as creating new land, making cracks in the crust, or changing landforms.
Landslides can cause rapid change to Earth’s surface such as rocks and debris falling from a rock face.
Writing: We are starting our Fairy Tale Unit.
Main Focuses:
We will be focusing on creating strong stories.
We will be careful when editing our papers and following a checklist.
We will also be thinking of the reader in mind. What gets them excited to read our writing? What should we add to make things flow easily?
We heard a few Tigers had an April birthday! Let's wish them the best birthday EVER!
