Math

The Unit 3 test will be on Tuesday November 9th.

We will play our beloved review Survivor in class on Monday which is a great chance for students to review for their test AND earn some money! We will go over our review in class so they will have the correct answers to study.

Students will have the full class time to complete the teston Tuesday. It will cover multiplication, division, prime, and composite numbers.

On Wednesday, students will have a chance to enrich their learning with an extension and make corrections on mistakes they made on the test if they scored below a 70. Students can make corrections for UP to a 70 in the gradebook.

The rest of the week the students will begin Unit 4 which is an extension of Unit 3. It covers multiplying and dividing with decimals. We will start with learning about multiplying with decimals with a product to the hundredths place using pictorial models.

Science & Social Studies

This week in SCIENCE, we will begin our study of fossils and what life was like long ago! This unit will carry us into Thanksgiving Break.

This week in SOCIAL STUDIES, we are continuing our study of the events leading up to the American Revolution! This unit will also carry us into Thanksgiving Break.

Reading/ Writing

This week we will continue our book club book schedule, with our book club meetings on Tuesday and Thursday. These will be our LAST 2 meetings for this book club. Please make sure your child has read up to their number of pages and their jobs are complete for each meeting. We will be finishing our books this week, then we will have our final book projects!

Students have been given a calendar of dates (posted in Canvas) that tells them how many pages they need to read for each book club meeting. This also tells them the job that they will have to do. The jobs are also posted in Canvas. **Students are always allowed to take their book home and read and work on their jobs at night**

We will be going to the library this week. Please make sure any books that need to be rechecked or returned are in backpacks.

Our 2nd book talk will be due Dec. 10. This book talk will be told from the main character's point of view. The rubric will be the same as last time, and is still posted in Canvas.

Students will have Poetry Week 10 due on Friday.

We will be writing creative turkey stories. These stories and disguises are due NEXT FRIDAY!! Students will be disguising a turkey to go with their stories. The disguises will be done AT HOME!

Students received new spelling words last Monday in class. They will need to complete their spelling activity (posted in canvas) by this Friday Nov. 12 Their spelling test will be this Thursday Nov. 11. This will be our last spelling test/activity for this semester. We will start back up in January.
