Math

~Welcome back 5th graders~

This week in math we will continue our learning with additive and multiplicative patterns and matching multi-step problems to equations. The students will take their Unit 7 Test over Algebraic Reasoning this week on Thursday March 24th. I will send out a review for homework on Monday that will be due on Thursday. We are moving fast in this last quarter of the school year..we have two more units before STAAR. Unit 8 is over Geometry and Measurement conversions and our last unit is Personal Financial Literacy.

Science & Social Studies

WELCOME BACK!!!

This week in Science, we will briefly review electricity and circuits before heading straight into our study of the energy unit. Students will explore "MELTS" which means Mechanical, Electrical, Light, Thermal, and Sound energy. This is a quick, one-week unit and then we will begin studying light.

Daily STEMScopes assignments continue this week.


In Social Studies, we are spending this week reviewing the main events and focus points of the Civil War as well as conducting a refresh of most of the 1800s main points, inventions, and notable contributions.


Reading/ Writing

This week students will continue working on their book club book. Students will be responsible for different jobs that they need to complete and share with their book club group. The schedule of when their jobs are due is posted in canvas.

Students will receive new spelling words this week. Their activities will be due next Thursday the 31st. Their spelling test will also be next Thursday the 31st.

Students will have a STAAR review practice in Reading on Friday. We will be having a review practice every Friday until STAAR

Book Talk #4 is due Friday April 29th. This will be our final book talk of the year. This will be a "bag" book talk, which means that students will bring in 5 different items in a paper bag that are meaningful in their story. As they do the book talk, the students will pull out the items and share/ explain them.
