  • Multiplying by 5

  • Making arrays with multiplication and addition equations to match.

  • Increasing our fluency with our Fun Facts.

Remember: Homework is due on Friday, but can come back any day prior to Friday. Thank you so much for helping them with this responsibility.

Have a restful Thanksgiving break!

I am very thankful for all my Tigers! :)

Science:

In science we are beginning our Environments unit.

Our Main Points to learn from this Unit:

  • Ecosystems are areas within which diverse living things (plants and animals) and nonliving things (physical components such as air, water, and soil) interact in a variety of ways

  • The number of organisms an ecosystem can support depends on available resources, such as food, water, shelter, and space.

  • All organisms, including humans, cause changes to ecosystems, and those changes can be beneficial or detrimental to those or other organisms.

  • Environments have specific physical characteristics that provide food, water, air, and protection to populations and communities in an ecosystem.

  • Changes to an environment can affect whether certain organisms can survive in that ecosystem.

  • Environmental changes such as floods, droughts, or fires will cause some organisms to perish or move while permitting other organisms to thrive.

Grammar:

This week's focus

  • We will use this time to practice our spelling words for the test on Friday, Dec. 3.

Writing:

Next week's focus

  • Informational Text

  • Students will continue to practice writing informational text. Students will choose a new topic to write about and provide central ideas with supporting details for their paper.

Spelling

When we return from Thanksgiving break, students will receive a spelling list of words that include R-controlled vowels such as /ar/ /er/ /ir/ /or/ and /ur/. Students will practice their list words throughout the week to prepare for the Friday Spelling Test.

We have been working on VCCV pattern words with open vowels. Students will also be tested on dividing words with this pattern this week.

Students will keep one spelling list here at school to use during class. The other copy will stay in their Reading Homework Folder (the velcro pocket) so they will have it to practice at home if desired.
