WENDY L STEVENSON was a prolific Nottinghamshire artist, born in Mansfield in 1950. She worked in both oils and watercolours and quickly established an international reputation, stretching from America to Japan, for her glowing images, particularly of farmyard animals and other domestic creatures, especially cats, with whom she enjoyed a wonderfully close affinity which shows through clearly in her work. She won many prizes for her work including Best Painting at London’s Llewellyn Alexander Gallery and the award of the Silver Palette Trophy. She was also commissioned to do artwork for Paramount, the American film studio. Sadly, the artist died before her time 2003 at the early age of 53 but some of her best work remained on permanent display for a time at the Longdale Craft Centre and Museum at Ravenshead, Nottinghamshire. Wendy Stevenson’s work is now increasingly collectable and does well at auction.
