SAM TOFT Artist: Biography - Prints for sale - Where to buy & prices - Google Sam Toft gallery - Videos - Artist website
Sam Toft was born in Staffordshire in June 1964. Her earliest ambition was to work in a Post Office or to join a circus that had a few friendly elephants. But after trying several different lifestyles she finally decided on a career as an artist and enrolled on a part time BTEC in General Art and Design at Liverpool’s City College. Once her quirky art took off big time she has won fans around the World with her sketches portraying the adventures of Mr. Ernest Hemmingway Mustard, his wife Violet and their terrier Doris. In her work she uses a variety of techniques including mixed media, oil pastels, coloured inks, scraffito as well as old fashioned fingers and thumbs.
Sam Toft is now hugely popular and her work is widely distributed as limited and open edition prints, cards, posters, mugs, calendars and even stationery. It is believed over two million prints of her work have been sold to date, putting her in the Top 5 of current popular artists.
Sam Toft finally settled in Brighton where for a number of years she ran the Little Mustard Shop and Gallery in the town.
Sam Toft has long been a lover of dogs. So much so that she has said if her artistic career ever fizzles out she would like to carve out a second career as a Dog Whisperer.
