Peter Cosslett was born in Cardiff in 1927. He spent his early life serving in the Merchant Navy and after World War II took up painting as a hobby, subsequently taking art lessons at night school. After some early setbacks he became increasingly successful and became a full time professional artist in 1971. Peter Cosslett has been described as probably the greatest living realist painter of British seascapes, riverine landscapes and coastal scenes and he is also famous for his beautiful snowscapes. Several of Peter Cosslett's original paintings have also been reproduced as highly successful Limited Edition prints. Peter Cosslett lived in Torbay, Devon. Sadly, he passed away in 2016, sadly missed by all who admired both him and his work.
Peter Cosslett's paintings are increasingly popular and are sold through at least two major art galleries where the asking prices are nearly always over one thousand pounds.
