Alix Jennings artist

Mrs. Alix Jennings (nee Thomson) was born in Carlisle in 1900 but after her marriage settled finally in Farnborough, Hants. She was an active painter throughout the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s and had one of her pictures exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1927.

Alix Jennings is today particularly associated with flower paintings but also with charming pictures of dogs. Her picture of two King Charles spaniels which came to auction recently is particularly memorable and fetched £750. She also captured a number of scenes from World War II on the home front including: "The Air Raid Warden".

Alix Jennings' pictures do well at auction with prices of her work on a rising trend. For example, in February 2004 her "French Bulldogs" sold for £300 at Doyles in New York and was later rumoured to have changed hands privately at much nearer the pre-auction estimate of about £600.
