Vincent Selby Artist Painter: Biography - Price Guide - Gallery of paintings on Google

Vincent Selby was born in Stockport, Cheshire in 1919. He displayed artistic (and musical) talent at an early age. He studied art at Stock[ort College. He served throughout World War II in the Royal Artillery and on his return to civilian life he was initially employed on interior design and display for a leading furniture house. In fact, it was not until 1973 that he became a full time artist. His work quickly became highly sought after, with his paintings being described as being particularly influenced by the work of the great 19th century school of English landscape painters. Vincent Selby's work is now widely exhibited and sold through major galleries and important dealers throughout the United Kingdom and the USA. He also received many commissions from publishers who have reproduced his work on prints, cards and ceramics. He became a member of the Association of Professional Artists. Vincent Selby was married and he and his wife settled at Romiley, East Cheshire on the edge of the Peak District National Park. This area is the inspiration for many of his fine paintings. He and his wife had two children. Vincent Selby died in 2004.

Vincent Selby's paintings are increasingly collectable, fetching up to US$400-500 or even more.
