GUY PENNAMEN French artist painter: Picture & Biography

The famed French artist Guy Pennamen was born in Quimper in 1932. But his name is most famously associated with the walled French city of Concarneau where he has captured many beautiful images of rural and urban life, in both oils and watercolours. Guy Pennamen showed artistic talent at a very early age and exhibited his first works at an art show in Lorient when he was only 18 years old. He received his early artistic training and encouragement from Dr. Godeby, Director of the Museum of Quimper. Guy Pennamen is particularly feted for his depiction of boats, cottages by the sea, golden flowering gorse and rural coastal Brittany. Guy Pennamen has also over the years combined his calling as an artist with being a successful gallery owner, ably assisted by his wife Yvonne. In this role, the couple have become the central focal point of a community of very talented artists working in the region.
