Barbara Olsen is an American naive artist. She was born in Oakland, California in 1935. She is a self taught artist who only began painting in 1980 after her three children had all grown up. Since then her original paintings and prints, especially for children, have captured a worldwide audience of admirers. She established herself through her illustrations of favourite children’s tales, bible stories and the pioneering lives of American heroines and her work is held in many prominent and private collections including those of President Reagan, President Bush, Mikhail Gorbachev and the Mazza Museum of original Artwork by children’s book illustrators in Findlay, Ohio.
