JOHN STOBART (born 1929) is a famed maritime artist best known for his meticulous paintings of American harbour scenes during the Golden Age of Sail. Although born in the UK, he has found huge recognition in the USA where his original paintings now fetch equally huge prices. His signed Limited Edition prints currently fetch in the range US$250-750 while his original paintings sell at around $US$30-50,000 or more.

John Stobart received his early art training at Derby School of Art in 1946 before winning a scholarship to the prestigious Royal Academy Schools in London in 1950. He emigrated to North America in 1957, a key step in his path to the world wide fame which he enjoys today. He now lives in Florida.
