J TCHEREPNINE Botanical watercolour artist: Biography - Gallery of work on Google

Jessica Tcherepnine (1938-2018) was one of the World's leading botanical watercolourists. She was born in Sussex, England, the daughter of a successful lawyer. Initially she studied drawing and watercolour in Florence under Nerina Simi. She then spent some time with Christies in both London and New York before leaving in 1982 to devote herself to full time painting. The following year she had the first of several successful solo exhibitions at the Shepherd Gallery in Manhattan. She also exhibited at the Jonathan Cooper Park Walk Gallery in Chelsea, London.

The artist received no less that two gold medals from the Royal Horticultural Society for her work, the fist in 1988 for New York State wild flowers, the second in 1990 for a series of wild orchids. She was a board member of the Horticultural Society of New York and in 1995 she became a founder member of the American Society of Botanical Artists.

Jessica Tcherepnine's work is now represented in major botanical art collections all over the world including those of the Natural History Museum, the Royal Horticultural Society and the Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art at Key Gardens as well as in a number of prestigious private collections.
