Adam Barsby was born in Leicester, England in 1969, one of five children. After graduating with first class honours from the Kent Institute of Art and Design in 1992, Adam became a successful freelance illustrator for prestigious magazines such as Homes & Gardens, Ideal Home and Country Life. He became full time professional artist in 1996. His unique talent gained him the John Solomon Trophy Trophy for Best Selling Artist in 1998, Best Up and Coming Artist for 1999 and three nominations for Best Selling Published Artist 2000, 2001 and 2002 from the Fine Art Trade Guild.

Adam is intrigued by the power and beauty of the sea. He employs a palette of rich, exotic colours to evoke the changing moods and mysteries of the oceans, the ships which sail upon them and those whose lives are entwined with the fortunes of the waves. He is fascinated by the creation of a mythical, magical atmosphere which involves the viewer in the whimsical story of each picture.

Demand for Adam’s work continues to grow but he is still seeking new creative outlets for his artistic ideas.
