Peter A. Kotka Artist: Biography - Auction prices

Peter Kotka was born in February 1951. His early career was as a toolmaker and designer. He began to paint in 1979 and has been fully professional since 1983. A big break through was when Royal Doulton asked him to a series of designs for collector plates entitled “Harvest Home” and this was followed by numerous card designs for Hallmark and Polytint. He greatly admires the works of the Dutch Masters of the 17th century, particularly Jacob van Ruysdael, and this is strongly reflected in his sought after early work (of which this painting is an especially fine example) . More recently Peter has specialised in Still Life paintings featuring rare vintage wines. These paintings have become very popular in America, where at a recent exhibition in California be was the best selling artist in the Show. Peter Kotka’s paintings are now in private collections all over the world. His work is also widely available as Limited Edition giclee prints.
