David Shepherd OBE is one of Britain's most accomplished and popular artists. Those, like most of us, who cannot afford his originals, clamour for prints of his masterpieces which are enduringly in demand. He trained initially under Robin Goodwin. David's most popular subjects include aviation, military subjects, steam engines, rural scenes and, perhaps most famously of all, animals. David's autobiography "The Man Who Loves Giants" was published in 1976 and, like all his work, immediately became a best seller.

DAVID SHEPHERD: "Muffin's Pups". Framed - ready to hang

Charming framed print of Muffin's first litter. 1983.

Here is an absolutely charming David Shepherd print that will instantly appeal to dog lovers and David Shepherd admirers alike. It is entitled "Muffin's Pups". It was painted in 1983 and depicts the first litter of pups born to David Shepherd's much loved bearded collie Muffin. She produced a litter of eight glorious puppies.

In his book, David Shepherd tells how the puppies all very quickly began to develop their own special and diverse characters. At the time this picture was painted the puppies were seven weeks old and getting to the point where mayhem and pandemonium was the order of the day, especially at feeding time. David says tears flowed when the time came for them all to go to their new homes. Muffin herself was a much loved member of the Shepherd family for no less than 13 years and finally passed away on June 6th 1994.

This lovely print, a copy of which also features in David Shepherd's book "My Painting Life", is tastefully mounted, framed and glazed and comes ready to hang. Including the tasteful dark frame, the overall dimensions are approximately 70 cm. by 56 cm. The image itself is approximately 57 cm. by 42 cm. The print has a pleasing glossy finish and is mounted on board. The colours are very bright and unfaded. Overall condition is excellent. The print is signed David Shepherd 83, bottom right, within the plate. On the back, there is an old Boots label which reads: Another picture framed by Boots Muffin’s Pups 46.69.010.
