Some ideas to help get started.

Forbidden Scrollery: The players discover an ancient book, written in an ancient language that is almost entirely forgotten. The book is clearly magical in some way, however. After asking around, a Youkai, perhaps hiding in the Human Village, directs them to Suzunaan, and its owner, Kosuzu Motoori, who it is said can read any book. There, they begin to learn of the book's true nature. However, other groups have learned of this book, the Tengu and the Tanuki, and both of these Youkai groups want the book for themselves. Who wrote this book? What did they want from it? What is its true purpose? The players will have to get to the bottom of this mystery, without letting it fall into the hands of Youkai.
