Kosuzu Motoori

"I knew I was different from other people! I always wanted to have such an exciting daily life!"

Kosuzu Motoori is a young human girl who runs the bookstore, Suzunaan, in the human village. While she maintains many books for humans on the behalf of her family, she's also the prime collector of Youkai works, with which she has an unhealthy fascination.

She possesses the ability to understand any written text, and, with time and effort, can use this ability to translate any language. It's because of this ability that she grew interested in Youma books, which are often written in the ancient languages of Youkai.

She's friends with Hieda no Akyuu, the chronicler of Gensokyo. Additionally, her position as someone who controls and manages so many otherworldly books makes her a person of interest to many factions; she helps Aya Shameimaru of the Tengu to print papers and distribute her newspaper, the Bunbunmaru. Mamizou Futatsuiwa is also a regular, who hopes to use Kosuzu's books for her own ends. As a result, both Reimu Hakurei and Marisa Kirisame keep a close eye on her, both to protect Kosuzu and to make sure she doesn't get carried away.
