Pizza bread with mushrooms

Pizza bread is easy to make. This recipe uses canned brown mushrooms as the topping. You can use whatever you like. The portion sizes of all the ingredients can be adjusted to taste.

  • bread

  • tomato or spaghetti sauce

  • 2 C sliced colby jack cheese

  • 1/4 C parmesan cheese

  • 1 4 oz can sliced brown mushrooms

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • 1/4 tsp red chile pepper

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp pepper

1. Preheat the oven to 350.

2. Shred the colby jack cheese. Other cheeses can be used as well. Cheddar cheese is a good choice, as is mozzarella cheese.

3. Choose the bread you are going to use. Homemade white and french breads that can be sliced thickly are ideal. Store bought unsliced french bread is also good. Regular store bought sliced bread works too.

4. Arrange the bread slices on a foil covered baking sheet.

5. Open the tomato or spaghetti sauce. Place approximately a spoonful of spaghetti sauce on each bread slice. Spread the spaghetti sauce out so that it covers the entire bread slice. If thin store bought sliced bread is being used, make sure not to soak the bread with the spaghetti sauce.

6. Cover the bread slices with the shredded cheese. More or less cheese can be used, depending on taste.

7. Open the can of sliced mushrooms and place the sliced mushrooms on the bread slices. Add any other toppings as desired.

8. Sprinkle all of the bread slices first with parmesan cheese, then with oregano, and then with a dash of salt, pepper, and red chile powder. All of these ingredients can be added to suit personal taste.

9. Place the pizza bread in the oven and bake for 10 to 20 minutes. Check for doneness. When the cheese is fully melted, including under the toppings, the pizza bread is done.
