baked tilapia

This is a pretty good basic recipe and the prep time is minimal. I recently found that instead of lemon you can do paprika, and that goes well on baked tilapia instead. I think if I remember right it is paprika, salt and pepper, and garlic powder? Will update.

  • 3 thawed tilapia fillets

  • 1 lemon

  • butter

  • pepper

  • salt

  • garlic powder

  • dried parsley flakes

1. Preheat the oven to 450.

2. Pat the fillets dry and place them on a foil lined baking sheet or cooking dish

3. Cut the lemon. Squeeze lemon over the fillets. Shake some pepper, garlic powder, and parsley flakes over both sides of the fillets.

4. Bake in the oven 8-10 minutes, flipping the fillets half way through cook.

5. Top each fillet with a pat of butter immediately after removal from the oven and drizzle a little of the cooking juices over them. Serve with lemon wedges.

An alternate to this recipe is to simply bread the tilapia following the instructions on a box of fish breading from the store. Then cook following the oven instructions on this recipe and serve with lemon slices. That is also quite tasty and my daughter did not complain about it.

Update : A fried version is even better, how I cook it now. Make a page for it eventually. All of the above ingredients and then cook in hot oil in a fry pan for so many minutes each side. Serve with a lemon slice. Delicious. Good for breakfasts and sandwiches.
