Egg McMuffins

homemade Egg McMuffin

This is an imitation recipe of McDonalds Egg McMuffins. Because some mornings we don't want to go through drive-thru. The ingredient list is for a batch of 5 McMuffins. You can make a large batch of these and freeze them.

  • 5 eggs

  • 5 American cheese slices

  • 5 round sausage patties

  • 5 English muffins

  • vegetable oil

1. Fry the sausage rounds in a pan until done.

2. Place several tablespoons of vegetable oil in another frying pan. If cooking only 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of oil should be sufficient. Heat the oil over low-medium heat. The oil is ready when a small drop of water boils immediately.

3. Crack the egg into the oil. Do not break the yolk. If desired sprinkle the egg with salt and pepper. Allow the egg to cook until the egg white has lost all transparency and is solid in color and texture. If the egg is scorching before the white is cooked through reduce the heat to low. When the egg white is fully cooked flip the egg over. The objective is an over easy egg with the egg yolk fully cooked. Place a slice of American cheese on top of the egg. When the egg yolk is solid and fully cooked, remove the egg from the oil. Think around 4 minutes or so, depending on the heat of your stove.

4. Split the English muffins with a fork. Place them in a toaster, adjust the setting to muffin, and toast.

5. Place 1 sausage round and 1 cheese topped egg on an English muffin half. Top with another English muffin half.
