chinese BBQ drummies

Chinese BBQ drummies go well at pot lucks and picnics. You can crock pot this recipe. The crock pot recipe steps are below the oven baking steps. The Accent can be omitted.

  • 1/3 C soy sauce

  • 3 tbs sugar

  • 3 tbs brown sugar

  • 3 tbs red wine vinegar

  • 1 tsp ground ginger

  • 2 minced garlic cloves

  • 1/2 C strong chicken broth

  • Accent to taste

  • Pepper to taste

  • 1 flat of chicken drummies

Oven instructions

1. Mince the garlic cloves. Mix the soy sauce, sugar, brown sugar, vinegar, ground ginger, minced garlic, chicken broth, Accent, and pepper together in a bowl.

2. Rinse the flat of drummies, remove the skin, and marinate them in the mixture for two hours. You can marinate by putting everything in a freezer bag. Squeeze the air out of the bag and keep it in the fridge, flipping occasionally to more evenly distribute the marinade.

3. Preheat the oven to 350. Bake the drummies uncovered in a shallow pan for 1 hour. Turn them once, and baste them 2 or 3 times.

Crock pot instructions

1. Mince the garlic and mix the soy sauce, sugar, brown sugar, vinegar, ground ginger, minced garlic, chicken broth, Accent, and pepper together in a bowl.

2. Rinse the drummies, remove the skin, and put them in the crockpot. Add in the mixture. Turn the heat to high on the crockpot, cover it up, and let it simmer for an hour. If the chicken is sticking/looking like it will burn on the bottom you can add some water in.

3. After an hour reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer. When the chicken juices run clear, the meat is receding from the bone, and/or the internal temperature of the chicken next to the bone is at least 375 degrees, the chicken is ready.
