Work

*WORK/*WORKS - see PRACTICE, SACRIFICE

Work, love, and the valley of the shadow may be painful, but how empty would our lives be, how much less human would our lives be, without them. Some things mean more to us because we had to work hard to do them. (How Good, p143)

If faith is not expressed in works, it is dead. (James 2:14-16)

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. (Eph 2:8-9)

At the beginning, the work (of spiritual life) is mostly ours. We must do our part or nothing else will happen. In the middle, it is both God's and our work together that bring increasing purity. In the end, God will do it all. (Purify, p225-6)

Faith without works is like a car without gas. (Sign at ??? Church on Buckley Rd)

God needs us to do his work. As in the Incarnation, we are incarnated to have God act through us if we step out in faith. (ThemesOT, p53)

He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also, and greater works shall he do.
