*EMPATHY - also see VICARIOUS
We can know God vicariously or empathically by our sufferings and glory. In my suffering from Bonnie's condemnation I was able to feel first hand how God must feel when someone has doubts (slams Him) about His goodness. And when I was praised in City Hall's newsletter, I should have realized how God must feel when we praise Him with the glory and honor He deserves so much. (Randy, 3/12/97)
Tao leaders listen to opponents as well as their friends, laerning from both. Turning within, they listen to themselves as well, trusting in their intuition, their inner guidance. The more faithfully you listen to the voice within you, the better you will hear what is sounding outside. Patient observation brings greater insights and empathy. (Tao Peace, p183)
I can identify or have empathy with God when I equate my sufferings given by my spouse and children to the suffering God must have from His spouse (the Church or entire creation?) and His children. (Randy)
