*DEEP/*DEEPER/*DEPTH - also see MEANING, VALUE
We need to look deeper at things to discern the lessor of two evils or the better of two goods. For example, disciplining children is hard for us and demoralize them in the short term, but does make them better in the long run. Is it better to let a child learn to be responsible by giving them freedom or to have them sometimes hang themselves with the freedom? (Randy)
Caring, giving and sharing with love for others - this is the way to develop a DEPTH of CHARACTER. Something in us recognizes this wholeness, this greatness of soul, either in others or in incipient form in ourselves, and desires it and recognizes it as a higher, more important goal.
