The only way to know the pure Self is by systematically reducing the impact of sensory experience until only the Self remains. In TM there is no longer 'I am', no individuality, but at‑one‑ness with the whole of creation. The boundaries which distinquish one self from another are dissolved and we begin to experience that 'we are all one and the same' and that the pure Self is a Universal Self which takes on the form of individual consciousness and selves. (TM, p101)
It is God's desire to free us from so much reliance on our senses. It is God's wish to release us from the methods of discursive meditation that rely mostly on techniques of visualizing images and organizing thoughts. As we mature, God weans us from the last remnants of excessive attachments to worldly things as ultimate. (Dark Night, p88,90)
God gives us the gift of our senses, but we are slowing being made ready to exchange these gifts of sensual pleasures for something more substantial. (Dark Night, p104)
It is an illusion to think that God has lost control or interest in the affairs of people. Pain and suffering do not cause the greatest damage. Confusion is the factor that shreds one's faith. The human spirit is capable of withstanding enourmous discomfort if the circumstances make sense. (Sense, p13)
The power of spiritual forces in the Universe - how active it is everywhere! Invisible to the eyes, and impalpable to the senses, it is inherent in all things, and nothing can escape its operation. (Wisdom, Confucianism, p117)
We must be sensitive to ourselves, others, and God. (Randy)
