*CONTROL - also see POWER, SURRENDER, DEPEND
The mistaken belief that each one of us is in absolute control of our reality. (p93) God wouldn't be God if he had no control over what was going on in his universe. (p152) (Prayer)
The mind can never be controlled by negation or efforts to suppress its strong desires. Negation has only a temporary effect. But when lifted above the earth by a higher power, it weakens and finally succumbs. To permanently control the mind, it must be given something it enjoys better than the worldly pleasures, the divine music. We can escape from the material world by
meditating on God and the higher worlds, therby becoming attached to the divine Sound Current. Confined within the body and duped and dominated by the mind, man is limited. But in his soul he is limitless. Hidden within him is a priceless jewel, though he knows it not. (Yoga, p84)
Lower forms of mind control (ie. diet, exercise, sex) must be mastered before higher ones (ie. concentration, peace, contentment, graditute). (Randy after reading Autobiography of a Yogi)
We live in nature, but can never possess it; we can guide and serve, but never control. (Tao 51) (Tao Peace, p121)
If you want to be a great leader, you must learn to follow the Tao (way). Stop trying to control. (Taoism, Wisdom, p158)
The most difficult thing for My people to do is to give Me their control! They are afraid they will lose their power. By trying to hold on to power, they will lose it, because they are grasping the wrong source of power. By surrendering your control, you shall gain it, because you shall be gaining My control! (IAM, p39)
Eating carefully has always been a part of different spiritual traditions. The more refined your system becomes, the greater your capacity to relate to different frequencies of vibration; the less refined it is, the more you are restricted to heavier frequencies of energy. It is the density of your inner, chemical atmosphere that affects the quality of your awareness. We must have some control over our senses. Our appetites cannot be in control of us. If they are, we are finished as far as any real growing is concerned. When we recognize that certain foods, substances, places, or kinds of relationships don't bring out the best in us, we may choose to avoid them. (Stillness, p133)
